This 48 Studebaker
is the one that started it all for High Gear Hot Rods. The
first national event this hot rod was driven to was the NSRA street
rod nationals in 1992. Over the next five years we traveled to many
national shows in what would become the coolest Studebaker beater
ever. When you are on the road for 12 hours in a hot rod you have
time to talk about a lot of things. More often than not these talks
center around hot rods. Our build style is a direct result of these
discussions and heavily influenced the finished product you see here.
We debuted the finished truck at the NSRA street rod nationals in 1999
and have driven over 50,000 miles to many
shows since. People must like what they see because the Stude
has won several awards including a Rod and Custom
Pro’s Pick, Boyd Coddington Pro’s Pick, and Classic Truck’s top 5
